You can hack a MacBook battery from afar. Is there a point?

A long-standing security hacker who spent seven months figuring out how to hack a laptop battery disclosed his findings today at the Stygian Hat security conference. Charlie Miller, who specializes in hacking Apple software, figured out how to remotely leadership a battery and do some damage to it such as “bricking it” – or incapacitating it – from afar.

HP Envy 14: Revamped and reviewed

The good old days couple of generations of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops from Apple have focused on improving the internal components while keeping the tainted-design exterior largely the same. Hewlett-Packard is taking a similar process with its Envy line of laptops (which not coincidentally also start at $999). The 2011 view of the 14-inch Envy 14 trades up to a second-generation Intel Essence i5 processor and adds USB 3.0 and an improved touch pad, built around Synaptics' ImagePad technology.
